Hugs
is currently very active in the Netanya area working with the children
from the last two terrorist attacks there. One of them, a teenage boy
named Doron, I will write about later. But for now, I want to introduce
you to Roee and the rest of the Rosen family. At the time of the suicide
bombing attack that killed their mother, Roee was 5, his sister Noam
was 9 and his brother Gal was 11. Because they live outside of Netanya,
it took a while for my friend the social worker to set up a meeting
between us. Finally, because of the Purim holidays, we were able to
arrange for the father to bring the children to meet us in the city
at an outside restaurant. As I always do when going out especially on
initial visits, I filled bags full of gifts for each child and then
packed everything into my large suitcase and headed out from Jerusalem
on the bus to Netanya. When packing the bags, I thought that it was
one boy and two girls so I packed things for girls and a very young
boy. But as it turned out, the oldest child is a boy. He loves tennis
and science so on the next visit I will make sure that I have something
extra special especially for him.
The
meeting was absolutely wonderful and the LORD created a bond between
us immediately...even before I gave them their gift bags at the end
of our meeting. The father, Gadi, speaks English so I did not need to
go through a translator in communicating with him. He had been married
to Eliya for 15 years. Understandably, he is in a lot of pain but he
said for the sake of the children he was determined not to turn their
home into a house of mourning.
I
then began to tell him about Hugs for Israel. He, as well as all those
sitting at tables nearby and those in the surrounding stores who had
stopped to listen, were deeply touched upon hearing what Hugs is doing
with children throughout the country. I explained to him about our Adopt-a-Grandchild
Project and got his permission to include Gal, Noam and Roee in it.
As a matter of fact, he was truly moved to learn there were people who
didn't even know his children who would be willing to help them SPECIFICALLY
during this very difficult period in their lives. As we parted, I gave
him an envelope with a small monetary gift from Hugs in order for him
to purchase last minute Purim outfits for each of the kids. Purim would
forever take on a very personal meaning for each of them now. As you
know, Purim is a special Jewish holiday, enjoyed especially by children,
and celebrated around the world. It commemorates the Biblical account
(recorded in the Book of Esther) of God's deliverance of the Jewish
people from the hands of their enemy Haman who wanted to destroy them. |

| A
few days later I received the following unexpected email from the father.
Date:

Subject: from Gadi Rosen
Dear
Brenda, I wanted to thank you for the lovely gestures and presents you
gave us on that morning at Purim holiday. Those things surely put on
smiles and joy to my children and I suppose on others too. I would like
to share with you what we did today. on the 21 of March will be 39 birthday
of my beloved wife. so today we gathered family & friends in a forest
to eat.. then the children wrote for her on balloons filled wit youh
Helium gas. and we freed them to the sky, it was overall hard and good.
take care and keep on the important work of yours.
cordially

"To
appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting
of the LORD, that He might be glorified." (Isaiah 61:3)
Can
you see the doors that the LORD is opening here? Is He speaking to your
heart? Then let us lay hold of this opportunity to show forth our love
for the nation of Israel not only in word, but in deed also, by the
care that we give to its children..."trees of righteousness, the planting
of the LORD that HE might be glorified."
Because
these are siblings who have together mourned the murder of their mother,
we want to find a congregation, a prayer group or a family who would
consider it a blessing to take all three of these precious children...Gal,
Noam and Roee... under their wing and into their hearts in the Hugs
Adopt-a-Grandchild Project. Click on the "Adopt-a-Grandchild" Project
button under the Quick Links section at the top of this page to learn
more about this wonderful initiative and how you too can commit
to pray for and financially sponsor a specific child victim of terror
here in Israel.
Please
respond to this email or contact us via one of the other methods below
with any questions you might have or to make arrangements to become
the Hugs Adoptive-Grandparents of Gal, Noam and Roee. |
||
| In addition to the three Rosen children, there are many more children here who are in need of Hugs "Adoptive-Grandparents." Find out how you or your group can get on our waiting list to be matched with one or more of them as the LORD leads. Finally, please feel free to forward this email to your friends using the easy 'forward email' link below. It just might set the stage for more trees to be planted and lives changed.
Blessings
and Hugs from Jerusalem,
