“Dr. Hugs” Medical Fund

In addition to outward injuries caused by a terrorist attack, many children also suffer from internal injuries and stress-related illnesses. Asthma brought on by damage to the lungs as a result of the force of a bomb blast…the puncturing of the eardrums….loss of hearing… sleeplessness… anxiety… depression… severe headaches… and other such ailments are all common health problems that continue to plague these young survivors long after their release from the hospital. In some cases they require on-going medical attention or medication. Depending on the health insurance the family might have, not all medications and treatments are covered and even the ones that are, the families are still required to pay a portion of the cost.

The Dr. Hugs Medical Fund will allow Hugs for Israel to relieve the financial burden that can sometimes restrict the parents from seeking the kind of medical help the child may need further down the road as more symptoms are diagnosed. Why should a child who has suddenly developed asthma or some other ailment as a result of a terrorist attack not be able to get the needed medication when it is within our means to provide it?

Of course, every visit by Dr. Hugs will start with a generous dose of Hugs and smiles.
