Hugs in Kiryat Menahem/Ir Ganim

(If you are a returning visitor to this page, you can skip the following introduction and click on the links following it to get the latest updates.)

Kiryat Menachem and Ir Ganim are adjacent neighborhoods in Jerusalem and are considered poverty-stricken. On November 21, 2002 a suicide bomber attacked a crowded # 20 city bus packed with earlier morning travelers on their way to work or school…killing 11 people and wounding 50 others. All of those killed were from the Ir Ganim neighborhood…among them were 4 children. Children were also among the many wounded. Because of this, this community was on our list of places to reach out to.

The Community Center

On November 28, 2005, I met with the Director of the Kiryat Menachem (Jerusalem) Community Center about donating a bounce castle to the center. However, because of changes in staff at the center, it wasn’t until March 16, 2006 that we actually set it up there. Visit the photo gallery to see more photos of the children enjoying themselves in it. The new Director is very passionate about upgrading the center and elevating it (and thereby the rest of the community) from its current status. We want to work with him to provide many more fun things for the children in the days ahead. Click on the link, “What Israelis Say About Hugs” to your right to read the letter that he wrote to us. Then visit the Photo Gallery to see more photos.
