Hugs in Gilo
Located in the south of Jerusalem and across the valley from the Arab village
of Beit Jalla, the affluent neighborhood of Gilo was the target of daily terrorist
shooting attacks. The government later build a concrete barrier in an effort
to shield the residents and school children from these attacks. Many of their
residents have been killed in the June 2002 suicide bus bombing attack on
the #31 bus as well as in other terrorist attacks across the city.
The Gilo Community Center
Hugs donated an inflatable bounce castle to the community center as a way to reach out to the entire community living under the stress of these shooting attacks. Click on the link, “What Israelis Say About Hugs” to your right to read the letter that he wrote to us. Then visit the Photo Gallery to see more photos. Also, go to the Media tab on the navigation bar to read the article that The Jerusalem Post published concerning our donation of the bounce castles to Gilo and to other cities in Israel.
