Children Victims of Terror in Need of Hugs
Israel has long suffered the onslaught of terrorism, but in September 2000, a brutal wave was unleashed upon the nation. A wave that saw more than a thousand Israelis murdered and many thousands more wounded, maimed and emotionally traumatized. Over the course of the past 9 years, literally tens of thousands of Israeli children have had their lives touched and torn in some way by the vicious claws of terrorism. Some have been horribly burned or have lost parts of their own bodies. Some have lost a parent or brother/sister/aunt/uncle; while some have even lost multiple family members to these savage acts. Some have lost friends or schoolmates or neighbors. Still others have lost both parents and been left as orphans.
Countering the Effects of Terrorism
"Comfort ye, comfort ye My people, saith your God." (Isaiah 40:1)
We have been given a clear and unwavering mandate in the Word of God to be comforters to the nation of Israel…not only in word but in deed as well…so that they are strengthened and encouraged. This is exactly what Hugs for Israel (a non-profit Evangelical-Christian organization based in Jerusalem) was birthed to do. How then can we not respond when we see how terrorism has ripped apart the lives...hopes...dreams of so many children? Maybe it is not someone whom you know today...but tomorrow it could be.

Liel...when she was only 3 years old she was seriously wounded in a suicide bombing attack in 2005 as she, her mother and grandmother waited to cross the street to a shopping mall in Netanya. Her mother sustained life-threatening burns and wounds over 75 % of her body. Her-50 year-old grandmother was killed in the attack.
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called the trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3)"
Truly the LORD is at work healing, restoring and embracing these precious lives.
